Joining a PFAR Committee has always been a great way to make new contacts, learn about the new trends in the industry, and have a hand in shaping the Association’s direction. Each year, over 200 REALTORS® and Affiliates become active participants in PFAR’s Committees.

If you’d like to get more involved with PFAR or simply have some great ideas you’d like to see implemented, now is the time to do something about it. The Association has plenty of opportunities for volunteers.

COMMITTEES

 

AWARDS & RECOGNITION

Reviews candidates and votes the awards of REALTOR®-Broker, REALTOR®-Salesperson and Affiliate of the Year and any special recognition awards deemed appropriate by the committee as recommended by the Board of Directors. See past winners on PFAR’s Hall of Fame.

BUDGET & FINANCE

Oversees the financial operation of the Association and report the status of such to the Board of Directors. Ensures that Association funds and physical assets are appropriately safeguarded and administered.

COMMERCIAL FORUM

Assists members by sharing commercial property and client information; provide educational programs and services relating to commercial and investment properties; and exposing commercial brokers who are not PFAR members to the advantages offered by a local association and MLS. 

EDUCATION

Sponsors educational programs to increase the professional competency of all members. Works with C.A.R. and the D.R.E., institutions of higher learning and independent speakers to provide a full range of real estate courses and study materials. Plans and administers Association educational conferences, seminars and similar events.

HISTORICAL PRESERVATION

The Historical Preservation Committee of the Pasadena-Foothills Association of REALTORS is dedicated to providing information and educating the public about our architectural heritage, the importance of its preservation, and the enhancement of the architectural and historical value of their homes.

GRIEVANCE

Reviews and investigates complaints by members and the public to determine whether a complaint warrants a formal hearing. Investigates charges of unethical conduct and present findings to the Professional Standards Committee for adjudication and possible disciplinary action. Reviews arbitration requests to determine qualifications for hearings. Requires special training and one year PFAR membership.

MLS

Review and make recommendations on all matters related to the MLS. Promote user training and awareness to ensure full utilization of i-Tech MLS services. Monitor and enforce rules and regulations to ensure compliance with N.A.R. and C.A.R. guidance. Participate in MLS violation hearings as a panel member. Visit the MLS Home Page

I-TECH MLS

The MLS is governed by the Multiple Listing Service Committee in accordance with the bylaws of PFAR and such rules and regulations as adopted by the Board of Directors. The committee reviews and makes recommendations on all matters related to the MLS. Promote user training and awareness to ensure full utilization of i-Tech services. Monitor and enforce rules and regulations to ensure compliance with N.A.R. and C.A.R. guidance. Visit the MLS Home Page

LOCAL GOVERNMENT RELATIONS (LGR)

Monitors local government actions, proposed legislation, governmental regulations and public policy pertaining to the real es/tate industry; recommends action to the Board of Directors to propose, oppose or support legislation and candidates; provides public testimony before the city council and/or commissions. Promotes political fund-raising for the “Political Survival” and the 99 Club. Supports and conducts political education and awareness programs. Works with the Association’s Legislative Advocate. Interacts with elected officials and civic leaders.

NOMINATING

The Nominating Committee selects candidates to be elected for positions on the Board of Directors.

ORIENTATION

Committee Chair: Rita Sahlein Provides a course of instruction to applicants for REALTOR® membership covering Association services, the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Association, the Constitution and Bylaws of the State Association and Constitution, Bylaws and Code of Ethics of N.A.R. Provides MLS Participants who are not association members with a course covering MLS Rules, standard forms and services.

PFAR CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

The Pasadena-Foothills Association of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation is a group of volunteers comprised of REALTORS® and Affiliate Members of the Pasadena-Foothills Association of REALTORS®. The Charitable Foundation creates and plans fundraising events in order to pursue its mission statement. Visit the PFAR Charitable Foundation page

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

The Professional Standards Committee strives to promote knowledge of and compliance with the N.A.R. Code of Ethics in order to elevate the industry to its highest professional, ethical ideal. It reports to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. Visit the Professional Standards page
